NHL Playoffs Betting Preview: Who Will Hoist The Stanley Cup In 2023?

We are 25 days away from the beginning of the 2023 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the Boston Bruins are the only team that has clinched a spot in the postseason.

It should come as no surprise that Boston is also listed at the top of the odds for betting on the 2023 Stanley Cup, favoring them to win their 7th championship in franchise history and the first in over a decade.

2023 Stanley Cup Futures

  • Boston Bruins +300
  • Colorado Avalanche +575
  • Carolina Hurricanes +750
  • Toronto Maple Leafs +900
  • Edmonton Oilers +1000
  • New York Rangers +1000
  • New Jersey Devils +1200
  • Vegas Golden Knights +1200
  • Dallas Stars +1400

The team with the most points in the Western Conference is the Vegas Golden Knights with 94, placing them four points ahead of the Dallas Stars with 90.

Despite the current standings, NHL Playoff betting sites feature Vegas as eighth overall, with the Stars ranked just below them at 9th.

The Colorado Avalanche are the defending Stanley Cup Champions and are the most favored team to represent the West in the 2023 Finals.

The Avalanche are currently in third place in the Central Division behind Dallas and the Minnesota Wild. With so few games remaining until the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin, legal NHL sportsbooks must be suggesting that the Avalanche will win the 2023 Finals without earning a top seed in the bracket.

2023 NHL Playoff Prop Bets

There are several Stanley Cup prop bets on the boards that are accepting wagers on whether individual teams will qualify for the 2023 playoffs.

Here’s an example:

Will The Florida Panthers Make It To The 2022-2023 NHL Playoffs

  • Yes -150
  • No +115

While there are several NHL props for teams on the cusp of the postseason, we selected the Florida Panthers because they’re odds are closest to even for both outcomes.

The top three teams in each NHL Division get an automatic bid to the playoffs. The final two playoff spots in each Conference are granted to the “best of the rest.”

The 8th team in total points will face the top team in the Conference, while the 7th team will go up against the leader of the opposite Division in the first round of the playoffs.

If the 2022-23 NHL season were to end today, the Panthers would find themselves outside the playoffs despite being in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.

This is due to the fifth-place team in the Metropolitan Division, the Pittsburgh Penguins, holding a one-point edge over the Panthers.

With just over three weeks remaining in the regular season, the Panthers have plenty of time to catch up with the pack and make a run at the Stanley Cup.

The NHL odds suggest that Florida will do just that, with a -150 moneyline favoring a playoff berth for the Panthers.

If you plan on placing any wagers on the 2023 NHL Playoffs, locking in your bets right now will secure the current odds no matter how much they fluctuate going forth. Good luck!
