Odds Posted For 71st Emmy Awards, TV’s Other Game of Thrones

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards are finally here, with the show set to air Sunday, September 22, on FOX (8:00 pm). The 2019 Emmys will be held at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, and the star-studded event is sure to attract a lot of attention.

The Emmys, put on annually by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, celebrates excellence in primetime television programming and has a long history in the public consciousness.

Lately, however, betting on the Emmy’s has become a popular event at legal online betting sites, too. Fans, it seems, aren’t content to revel in the accolades of their favorite celebrities and series – they want a piece of the action themselves!

Of course, it might not be too difficult to pick the winners this time around, at least when it comes to the various drama and technical categories.

That’s because HBO’s Game of Thrones is the biggest behemoth at this year’s gala, setting an all-time record with 32 Emmy nominations. While the final episode of the seminal series left many fans less than impressed, the show’s hardware haul should be downright hefty on Sunday night.

Nevertheless, there are plenty of other nominees on hand, and Bovada has posted odds on all the major Emmy categories of interest. Game of Thrones can’t win them all, but you can be sure that – despite the balmy summer air of the southern California coast – winter is coming.

While Game of Thrones has several nominees in the main divisions above, the show is more likely to earn the bulk of its statuesque hardware from the technical, production, and artistic categories.

That said, Peter Dinklage is a lock for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at -450, and GoT itself is practically a foregone conclusion to win Outstanding Drama Series at -500.

Other categories where Game of Thrones is likely to dominate include those for production design, casting, music composition, cinematography, costume design, makeup, special effects, stunt coordination, editing, writing, and – of course – directing.

If you want to wager on the Emmy Awards, you still have a couple of days to sort out your picks and submit your betting slips. However, it’s important to note that you aren’t likely to find Emmy betting odds at any local sportsbook.

For whatever reason, even though sports wagering itself is growing in prominence and popularity throughout the US, legally betting on entertainment events is frowned upon in most domestic gambling destinations.

Fortunately, there are several reputable online operators that offer odds on the Emmys, and you can access these sites from home, safely and comfortably.
