It may be too early to offer an assessment of where an NFL franchise is after one week of play, but after two games are in the books, there’s enough of a sample size to work with.
Below, we cover some teams that have performed above and below expectations in the realm of NFL betting and on the field play.
Winners
Indianapolis Colts – New starting quarterback Daniel Jones has Indy off to a 2-0 start with impressive wins against the Dolphins and the Broncos. With the Texans starting out with two straight losses, the Colts are already in position to gain a healthy lead on the rest of the division. Houston and the Colts do not play each other until Week 13.
Los Angeles Chargers – The Chargers stunned the Chiefs 27-21 in Week 1, letting KC and the rest of the league know that there’s a new contender in the AFC West. In Week 2, LA ground out a 20-9 win against the Raiders, highlighted by a ground-control offense and aided by multiple turnovers. The team has adopted Coach Harbaugh’s identity and appears ready to make a deep run into the NFL Playoffs.
Green Bay Packers – The Packers crushed the Detroit Lions 27-13 in Week 1 at Lambeau, setting the tone for the season in the NFC North. Week 2’s 27-18 Thursday win over the Commanders gave the Packers a 2-0 start, placing them as a legitimate contender to reach Super Bowl 60. The addition of Micah Parsons on defense has paid instant dividends that could cash in come championship time next February.
Losers
Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins were embarrassed on the road against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 and were then outpaced at home by New England, starting the season 0-2. With the Buffalo Bills coming up this Thursday night, there is little room for optimism going forward. Should Mike McDonald be fired? Probably.
Houston Texans – Houston now finds themselves in a 0-2 hole, continuing their struggles that were evidenced last season in Stroud’s sophomore campaign. There’s still plenty of time to turn things around for the Texans, but they’re now two games behind the Colts in the AFC South.
Kansas City Chiefs – Just seven months beyond their loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, the Chiefs have lost the first two games of 2025-26. The Chargers lead the AFC West at 2-0 with a win over KC, and it seems that LA has already established itself as the team to beat in the division. Despite their early struggles, the Chiefs are still the seventh-rated team in the NFL in the latest odds for Super Bowl betting.
