USFL Betting Concludes With Odds On 2022 Championship Game

The Birmingham Stallions and the Philadelphia Stars are the two teams that will compete for the first USFL Championship on July 3rd. This marks the first time the USFL has produced a championship game since the league closed up shop back in 1986.

While the nonexistent crowds served as an unwarranted distraction, the 2022 USFL season still qualified as professional football, and the level of competition was above that of Fan-Controlled Football, Arena Football, and perhaps even the CFL.

With the level of play and the games being routinely broadcast on national television, USFL betting began with futures odds for all teams in the preseason that favored the Michigan Panthers.

Michigan was the preseason USFL favorite because of their head coach, Jeff Fisher. I think it is time to temper expectations for any teams lead by Coach Fisher.

Despite the lofty projections heaped upon the Panthers for the 2022 season, they finished with a 2-8 record, well outside of contention for the USFL Playoffs (what has he ever won?).

For some odd reason, the Birmingham Stallions were not projected to go very far in 2022 based on the futures odds posted at legal football betting sites.

Why they were projected by oddsmakers to finish at the bottom of the standings is anyone’s guess as their entire 2022 season schedule was held at a stadium within Birmingham. The Stallions were literally the only USFL team to host a home game this season.

If that doesn’t seem fair, it’s because it isn’t.

At least the USFL playoffs and championship game are taking place at a neutral location – Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, OH. The Stallions are favored to beat the Stars by -4.5 points at the online sports betting sites included in our list of sportsbook reviews.
