This Saturday at 8 PM, coverage of the 2023 XFL Championship Game will begin on ABC and ESPN, with streaming on ESPN+. The season finale will feature a matchup of inarguably the best team in the league versus a franchise that probably should not have made it to the XFL Playoffs.
The DC Defenders
DC finished the 2023 XFL season with a record of 9-1. They mowed through their schedule, only dropping one contest to the Orlando Guardians by a single point.
The Defenders won the XFL North crown, but two division teams finished tied with 7-3 records – the Seattle Sea Dragons and the St. Louis Battlehawks. An exhaustive tie-break procedure was required to send Seattle to the postseason, where they promptly fell to the Defenders by a decisive final score of 37-21.
