The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs have been the top dogs in the National Football League since preseason futures were updated in August. The Chiefs will always remain in the Super Bowl betting picture as long as Patrick Mahomes is under center, so their presence is no surprise.
Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles appeared to be a team of destiny this season. Until recently, they’ve walked all over opponents and seemed poised to avenge their SB loss last year.
A 42-19 Week 13 loss to the 49ers and a 33-13 trouncing at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football has the Eagles now placed as the number five overall seed if the season were to end today.
Philly is ranked second in the NFC East division behind the Cowboys and must make up ground in the final four weeks of the season. Standing above both the Eagles and Cowboys are the newly crowned top seed in the NFC, the 49ers.
San Francisco also holds the best odds to win the Super Bowl at NFL betting sites, and they’re way ahead of the highest-rated team in the AFC.

Not only did San Francisco roll the Eagles, they embarrassed Dallas 42-10, begging the question – Who is supposed to beat the 49ers in the NFC this year? Obviously, that’s why they play the games, but it is hard to imagine San Francisco facing a significant challenge until the Super Bowl if their starters remain healthy.
The Baltimore Ravens have been steady in 2023-24 and have risen to the top overall seed in the AFC following losses by the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins.
The Chiefs lost at home to the Buffalo Bills last Thursday night, but the Dolphins couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity. Instead, Miami blew a 14-point lead to the Tennessee Titans last night.
Otherwise, Miami would possess the number one seed in the AFC right now. Things don’t get any easier for Miami. Their remaining schedule features games against the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Cowboys, and Ravens.
Even if the Dolphins come through that four-game stretch at 2-2, they’ll finish with a record of 11-6, which may not be good enough to win the AFC East if the Bills continue to win.
Bets placed on the 49ers to win the Super Bowl will still award net gains of $2.25 for each $1 risked if you lay your action today at the online sports betting sites we recommend.
