Super Bowl Betting Preview: Chiefs vs. Eagles Odds Continue To Narrow

The Buffalo Bills were the preseason favorite to win Super Bowl LVII, but those NFL futures didn’t cash in as they lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022-23 NFL Playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will meet in Super Bowl 57.

The Eagles have a chance to win their second Lombardi Trophy in five years and establish the championship legacy of third-year quarterback Jalen Hurts.

For Kansas City, a third championship as a franchise is on the line. If they win, it will be head coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and tight end Travis Kelce’s second Super Bowl championship together, cementing their status as all-time greats at their respective positions.

Lines for betting on Super Bowl LVII are favoring the Eagles to win, but the point spread has been moving in the direction of Kansas City since they dropped.

Super Bowl 57 Betting Line

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

  • Super Bowl Point Spread: Chiefs +1.5, Eagles -1.5
  • Super Bowl Moneyline: Chiefs +105, Eagles -125
  • Super Bowl Over/Under: 50.0

The Eagles have won their last two games by large margins, perhaps driving their current favored status. The NFC Championship Game was a wash, however, as the 49ers were operating without a legitimate quarterback for a majority of the contest.

Mahomes of the Chiefs is still dealing with a lingering high ankle sprain, but he was able to dispatch the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals while hobbling in the offensive backfield.

Based on current Super Bowl prop bets, we can expect the following performances from quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl 57 Stats (Projected)

  • Passing Attempts: 40
  • Passing Completions: 27
  • Passing Yards: 296
  • Passing Touchdowns: 2
  • Interceptions: 1

Jalen Hurts Super Bowl LVII Stats (Projected)

  • Passing Attempts: 32
  • Passing Completions: 21
  • Passing Yards: 246
  • Passing Touchdowns: 2
  • Interceptions: 1
  • Rushing Yards: 51

Savvy NFL gamblers may notice that there are no projected rushing yards for Mahomes. He is working with an ankle that’s less than 100%, but he was able to secure the win for KC by running the ball to set up the game-winning field goal against the Bengals.

We’re just saying, don’t be surprised if Mahomes’ rushing totals from Super Bowl Sunday are north of zero.

KC tight end Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, plays center for the Eagles. Jason has actually earned more All-Pro selections than Travis, who is already considered one of the top handful of tight ends to ever play the position.

Some are calling it “The Kelce Bowl,” but we’re still searching for specific brother vs. brother prop bets to wager on the matter.

Legal NFL betting sites have posted Super Bowl MVP odds that include most active players.

Super Bowl LVII MVP Odds

  • Jalen Hurts +115
  • Patrick Mahomes +135
  • Travis Kelce +900
  • A.J. Brown +1200
  • Devonta Smith +2200
  • Miles Sanders +2800
  • Haason Reddick +3500
  • Jerick McKinnon +5000
  • Isiah Pacheco +5000
  • Chris Jones +4500
  • Darius Slay +6500
  • Dallas Goedert +6000
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling +6000
  • Chad Henne +7000
  • JuJu Smith-Schuster +7500

The above odds for betting on the Most Valuable Player for Super Bowl 57 are trying to tell us a story. Not only is Philly QB Jalen Hurts favored to win, but five of the top seven spots are taken up by the Eagles.

The Chiefs only feature Kelce and Mahomes in the top seven. Backup quarterback Chad Henne is also conspicuously listed in the SB odds, suggesting there’s a chance that Mahomes exits the game.
